Dear Mr. Kovacik:You are presently the national media's sorriest excuse for a "journalist." I'm sure you will be replaced soon because there are so many viable candidates working in your field today. But at this moment, you get the award for being the lamest example in the country.
You got all dressed up the other day to join the hundreds of other bottom-feeders to try and get a glimpse of Paris Hilton being hauled back to jail. Like the rest of your colleagues, you crowded the police car carrying Ms. Hilton and would not heed the officer's demand that you get out of the way. Nice touch, by the way, when you saw Kathy Hilton and asked her with all the sincerity you could muster, "How are YOU doing?"
But what wins you the award is how, with the cameras rolling, you managed to throw yourself ever so slightly onto the front of the police car's front fender and feign that you have been "struck" by the vehicle. Did you watch the video that ran on MSNBC? Did you see your incredibly poor acting? I sure hope you aren't planning a career as a stunt man in the movies. Your abilities are laughingly pathetic!
What makes this whole incident even more tragic, is how you then turned the whole non-story of Paris Hilton into an even less important non-story about YOU! "They hit me! The police car hit me!" Forget Paris! I love how you picked up a small piece of plastic that broke off your microphone when you took your little swan dive and use it as evidence of how close to death you just came! What a sad, pathetic attention whore you are, Mr. Kovacik! When did you give up on being a legitimate newsman?
And the topper? Apparently you complained so long and loudly that another policeman came over to you to ask if you need an ambulance! I'm very surprised you refused. After all, you probably got some sort of scrape or bump. I'm sure your suit got some dirt on it. You missed a wonderful opportunity for more air time as the cameras follow you to the hospital and you continue to report on the aftermath of the callous attack by the Los Angeles Police Department on a poor, innocent reporter who was only trying to do his job.
Paris bawling in the back of the squad car has nothing on you, Mr. Kovacik. You're the master!

I don't even know who you are but I am writing a paper at UCLA on the journalistic contributions Robert Kovacik has made to the city of Los Angeles and the country as a whole and my Google search turned up your tirade.

Anyone who knows Robert knows he is the consummate professional journalist. He is incredibly astute, compassionate and talented. He is also beloved by the Southern California community. Shame on you for trying to disparage such a decent human being.

I know Robert, he is one of the most nicest person I know! A great Journalist, NBCLA is lucky to have him! He takes his job seriously & just because he knows a lot of Famous Hollywood People, he's still one of the greatest Journalist in L.A.! Who ever says anything different about Robert doesn't know him, try watching him on the weekends @NBCLA you'll see L.A. finest Anchor!

Hey! I actually kinda like Kovacik. But, does anyone know where he came from before Los Angeles? I watch NBC regularly, mostly because the station comes in the clearest and I refuse to get cable. As usual, there was no fanfare, he just showed up one day as if he'd been there for years... Somewhere I was shown a photograph of him from his 'pre-California' days and man, has this dude 'had work done'. Not just a face lift. Major plastic surgery. I wonder what it's like in person. It was if he was making a 'clean break' from something or someone, got this job on the West Coast and didn't budge until he emerged from a cocoon with a complete make-over to rival whatever that reality show is called about make-overs. I enjoyed his nervousness at the beginning but he quickly caught on and I find him enjoyable to watch now that he's settled in. I felt for him when punched at the Polo Lounge, laughed some because every other station carried EXCEPT NBC (they're not supposed to make news) but whatever. But the roach thing I simply refuse to watch. ultimately that wins me over though, if he could make it through that, he can make it through anything. I didn't know he got all hot and bothered however, and the guy running this site must surely know that people like Kovacik aren't like paparazzi out on the fly on the seat of their pants, but are SENT THERE and instructed to do these things. Maybe it went too far, but I'm backing him up anyway. Anyone should know that when it comes to Paris Hilton, whoever and whatever is completely off the books and is for adults and entertainment purposes only.

I think Robert is an exceptional man. Anyone who said anything negative about him do not know him and if they do are just plain jealous.. He is very well educated and highly articulate and intelligent. He is one of the nicest, kindness and most compassionate man I know. He is a fine journalist and makes a great caring friend.
